Forest Park in Snow
Forest Park
10 February 2010
Today was a snow day in new York City! The schools were closed and many businesses closed early, if they opened at all. As soon as I saw the weather, my long-neglected cross-country skis began to sing to me from the closet.

When I lived in Syracuse, I went cross-country skiing nearly every weekend. It is one of the few things I miss about living there. We don't usually get enough snow here to go cross-country skiing, so I took advantage of the winter storm (which is still raging as I type this entry) to dust off my skis and go to the park. I had a grand time!

Photographing the park in the snow was fun. I bumped the exposure up by a stop, so the snow would come out white, instead of gray. My lens hood helped keep snow off my lens when I took my camera from its bag to capture a shot. And of course I shot quickly, then returned my camera to its bag, where it would stay dry as I skied. So the shooting was the easy part. The hard part was staying upright as I glided through the snow. :-)
