violin still life 22 January 2009

I have not yet picked up where I left off with violin in high school, but I still love the instrument. Whenever I see a live orchestral performance, my eyes are glued to the strings, from first violin all the way to contrabass. I am always amazed that so many people on so many violins can somehow put their fingers on their respective instruments in just the right way to make beautiful music.

This is my student violin from my high school years. When it was clear I was going to stick with the instrument, my father bought the instrument, rather than continuing to rent it. Skills-wise, I am stuck at about 7th grade level, since I have neither taken lessons nor practiced on my own. One day I will do something about that. In the meantime, my violin is a good photographic subject or prop.
